I would not recommend Wessex Garages Newport because Disappointing experience – high pressure, administrative errors, and mileage discrepancies
I reserved a Nissan by paying a reservation deposit. The dealership knew since Friday that I held a European driving licence and that I would be travelling 2.5 hours to see the car. Despite the 7-day reservation policy, I was heavily pressured on Friday to sign purchase documents online before even seeing the vehicle. I was told that if I didn't sign immediately, they would cancel my reservation and refund the deposit. This felt like blackmail, but I signed.
On Monday, after the test drive, I decided to proceed with the purchase. Despite having my European licence on file since Friday, the staff suddenly realized they couldn't arrange the "5 days free drive-away insurance" for non-UK licences. I quickly sorted out my own multi-car insurance, but by the time it was done, their admin staff had gone home. I was promised delivery the next day ("we will sort it out"). On Tuesday, they called to say delivery was impossible and asked when I could come back. Having no choice, I had to travel another 2.5 hours on Wednesday morning, straight after working a night shift, just to pick up the car.
The handover on Wednesday was quick, but later I noticed a serious issue. The car was advertised at 10,262 miles, and all paperwork stated this exact number. I am 99% sure that on Monday after the test drive, it was around 10,270 miles. However, when I stopped at a tesco supermarket right after picking it up, the odometer read 10,855 miles (I have a photo). Nearly 600 miles were added to the car somewhere between the test drive and the handover.
Finally, regarding the PCP finance and the 2 complimentary services included: when I asked what happens to the services if I pay off the PCP early, the salesperson claimed they didn't know, said it was up to the finance company, and "strongly advised" me to keep the finance for at least 6 months. Yet, during the final paperwork on Wednesday, I received a direct printout from the Nissan system confirming the 2 services are fully active. It is obvious the staff was just trying to protect their finance commission (which is clawed back if the PCP is withdrawn within 14 days or paid off early).
I chose the car, not the dealership. While the car itself is fine, the customer service, pressure tactics, and hidden mileage were completely unacceptable.
I'd endorse Wessex Garages Newport because I am happy with the car, I got a fair deal and felt that the whole transaction was honest, professional and friendly.
